This is an uncomfortable true story in three parts about the grooming of three schoolgirls in Rochdale.
The script is sharp and strong. Every performance is good of special note is Maxine Peak flying as a sexual health worker and Ria Zmitrowicz and Liv Hill as two of the three girls.
Hard viewing. Important viewing BUT was it necessary to make these programmes?
Having read and heard about the Court cases on all forms of media, does this take the story any further?
Three Girls (BBC1, 9pm) Second instalment of the powerful drama which doesn’t shy away from the uncomfortable truth about the Rochdale sex abuse scandal.
Three Girls (BBC1, 9pm) Start of a three night drama chronicling the disturbing story of the systematic grooming and rape of underage white girls by middle-aged Asian men in the Rochdale area. The abuse victims were let down by the police and social services who dismissed them as young tearaways leading chaotic lives. Great performances by Maxine Peake as the whistle-blower they wouldn’t listen to and by Molly Windsor, Liv Hill and Ria Zmitrowicz as the courageous girls who agreed to testify.
EastEnders (BBC1, 8pm) In the endless saga of greedy Ian Beale’s battle of the bulge, our porky hero joins a slimming club. Meanwhile, there are no over-eating problems for starving Denise who is forced to hit the local foodbank in search of sustenance.
SATURDAY
Doctor Who (BBC1, 7.15pm) In episode five of Peter Capaldi’s swan-song the Doc, Bill and Nardole answer a distress call and run into a severe deep space oxygen shortage. Breath-taking stuff. Literally. How’s this series shaping up? Is it any good? Or is it – as usual – a load of old confusing claptrap? You decide.
Coronation Street (7.30 & 8.30pm) Continuing the long and ignoble Weatherfield tradition of keeping morally unjustifiable secrets, tawdry Toyah tells Eva that she went ahead with IVF without telling Peter. What’s wrong with these people?

Last year sometime, I can remember tweeting 'Long Lost Family' presenters Nicky Campbell and Davina McCall, suggesting they should do a follow-up show where they give us an update to some of the reunion stories featured in the main series. Oblivious to the first series, I then got somewhat of a delighted shock when I saw the second series of 'Long Lost Family: What Happened Next', listed for broadcast this week.

Some I suspect would have the view, that religion has absolutely no tolerance or acceptance for anyone or anything which would bring about a scenario that would be perceived by that religion, as negative, derogatory, slanderous, damaging or indeed blasphemous, or in any way, contrary to the core traditions, beliefs and the good name of that said religion.
Wow; what a mouthful. I wonder if I have missed my vocation in life and instead should have become a BS artist?
Born To Kill (Channel 4, 9pm) Series end for the disturbing drama about a killer kid who thinks he can get away with murder. Literally. Worried mum Jenny tries to understand her sinister son Sam’s increasingly dangerous and brutal behaviour. But is she too late?
