The Mash Report

News based comedy shows on TV are like people who ring your door bell on Saturday morning. You open the door with hope. But it's always that boring bloke whose convinced the world is ending.

It's an obligatory article of faith, for anyone offered a job in TV comedy, that the world ended in 2016. The day that Donald Trump won the US election.

Like many Jehovah's Witnesses, they can be quite engaging. But only as long as you can keep them from talking about their Doomsday subject.

The BBC Proms

By Andy Simon @AndySimon55

The BBC Proms. Arguably one of the highlights of my year, heralding eight weeks of musical ear massage for me and I’m sure, for so many others. So what makes the Proms so attractive?

Well; I was brought up on all that classical stuff when I was knee high to a grasshopper. Mum would often spoon feed me with masterpieces from Brahms, Mozart, Beethoven, Shubert, Rachmaninov and a whole host of other classic composers in between all the musicals, Andy Williams, Jim Reeves, Doris Day, and Cliff Richard and his shadows records.

Filmed over the period of 2 years by Tom's grandson Dominic, it follows the decision of the whole family to remove Tom from his home of 30 years, be sectioned under the mental health act and placed permanently under hospital supervision.
