My view is that it was a total bore until the last few mins when two goals were scored.

FA Cup Final

My view is that it was a total bore until the last few mins when two goals were scored.

That caused the game to go into another 30 mins extra time which cause that Michael Saturday show to be delayed.

In the end, Manchester United lifted the trophy. With the Euros coming up. We have more football on which is not the best sport in the world to watch.

Personal view I like a quailty drama or Wimbledon over football. But I don't expect much of that until September.

I wasn't the only one finding the game bit du q's Kev said during the match that it wasn't a classic match. Mind that was before the goals which was the only interesting bit.

The halcyon days when the FA Cup was a great tradition, have long since gone.

An all day build up with games, celebrities, It's a Knockout Cup specials, Question of Sport and other assorted goodies to get us into the mood. Then come 3pm deserted streets until the final whistle. When we would stream out of our houses, high on cherry pop and sweets and re-enact the final again.

Supporting Newcastle meant that I never had the chance re-enact my own team very often. But that's life. Up there in April relegated in May.

A jam packed stadium with a righteous rendition of Abide with Me now replaced by someone attempting to sing seems to have taken the soul out of the old thing.

The 20 minutes leading up to the game were a shambles, whoever thought of that should hang there heads in shame. How does a game like that kick off late when you have had all day to think about it?

Why does this game have to kick off at 5.30pm anyway? Can someone please tell me the point of this.

As for the game, with a cup at stake and LVG doomed before it even began, it was pretty average fare from two pretty average teams. Pards doing the jig of life was amusing to some of us Magpies fans who still think he is a knob.

So it ended after extra time and after a few ciders had refreshed me and awoken me from my lull, I watched as a very ordinary team lifted a cup in a very ordinary game.

I felt underwhelmed by it all. What a shame when it used to be one of the highlights of the sporting year. Now sadly a sideshow in a greed laden world of Premier League and Champions League football.

Jumpers for goalposts anyone?
