Top Gear Matt LeBlanc and Chris Evans

After the Beeb conceded that its brave new Top Gear stood no chance of making the May 8 launch date, shock reports emerged that Chris Evans was none too keen on the idea of sharing the limelight with his far more famous co-host Matt Le Blanc. I’m sure they’re friends now.

In any case, on this programme it’s not the quality of the presenters that counts… it’s the quantity. Seven so far. And counting. Absurd.

With the start of the series delayed by two weeks, the eagerly awaited motor show is surrounded by an increasing sense of chaos. Stand by for car crash TV. Old Clarkson must be loving this.
