Tonight's TV tips: Count Arthur Strong, EastEnders and Coronation Street
What to watch and review on Friday, May 19.
Coronation Street (ITV, 7.30 & 8.30pm) The sexploitation of Bethany continues apace as sleazy Nathan plies her with booze and forces to don sexy clothes ahead of an assignation with another of his creepy mates. Luckily, worried mum Sarah intervenes in the nick of time. But can she persuade her brainwashed daughter to return to her dysfunctional family?
EastEnders (BBC1, 8pm) After his mysterious six week absence tending to a sick relative abroad, Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter returns to Albert Square and a world of trouble. Whitney’s in Mick’s bed bonking Woody, surly Shirley’s sold the pub and Linda’s still nowhere to be seen. Can life get any worse? You bet it can.
Count Arthur Strong (BBC1, 8.30pm) Series three of the sitcom about a self-styled Count (the ‘o’ is silent) and former music hall star who hangs around with his eccentric chums in a suburban café. In the tradition of BBC comedies, it’s not particularly funny but it’s gentle tone should hit the spot with those family viewing fans who like their programmes nice and inoffensive.
