Tonight's TV tips: Poldark, The Loch and The Voice Kids
What to watch and review this weekend: June 10 and 11.
SATURDAY
The Voice Kids (ITV, 7.45pm) The junior version of the talent search spectacular that has never discovered a star. On the evidence of this excruciating series opener don’t expect the situation to change. One hour and 15 minutes of alarmingly young children singing averagely while their pushy parents watch in the wings. Patronising judges Will.i.am, Pixie Lott and McFly guy Danny Jones wildly overpraise some of the wannabes… and do their best not to upset the heartbroken rejects. All a tad uncomfortable.
SUNDAY
Poldark (BBC1, 9pm) Series three as Ross returns to ride his horse along the Cornish clifftops on a 24/7 basis. Our handsome hero is still torn between Demelza and Elizabeth. But Liz is pregnant and her horrible husband George has declared war on the Poldark clan. A dark and moody pantomime packed with goodies and baddies. But devastating news, Ross’s stripping to the waist days are over. Damn.
The Loch (ITV, 9pm) Highly promising new drama about the new Loch Ness monster… a sinister serial killer who dismembers the victims. Stars Laura Fraser and Siobhan Finneran as the coppers on the case. Scotland’s answer to Nordic noir.
