Homeland

SATURDAY

Let It Shine (BBC1, 7pm) Despite widespread apathy, Gary Barlow’s search for five wannabes to star in Gary Barlow’s uneagerly awaited stage musical carries on regardless. The Voice (ITV, 8pm) Week four of the talent show that time forgot. With the ratings still plummeting, ITV must be thrilled that they spent £55million to poach this pile of abject mediocrity from the Beeb. Money well spent.

Apple Tree Yard (BBC1, 9pm) Episode two of the much talked about sex-packed drama as Yvonne pays the price for her extra-marital affair with a mysterious man from the ministry. Stars Emily Watson and Ben Chaplin.

Special Forces: Ultimate Hell Week (BBC2, 9pm) Twenty-two intrepid nobodies head to South Africa for yet another of those so-macho military endurance tests. Great to see the Beeb shamelessly copying Channel 4’s SAS show Who Dares Wins. But who will fail and who will be tough enough to survive the course? Who cares?

Homeland (Channel 4, 9pm) Series six continues as Carrie and Reda fight for their client and Quinn battles against his horrible new life. Meanwhile, Saul and Dar suspect that Keane is hiding an incendiary secret. Is this venerable US import still a winner? Or is it trading on past glories?
