What to watch and review on Monday. Tonight’s TV tips
What to watch and review on Monday, July 4.
EastEnders (BBC1, 8pm) Many weeks after she died, it’s Peggy’s funeral. Not a dry eye in the chapel as mummy’s boy Phil Mitchell struggles to get through the eulogy. This pivotal episode marks the end of an era.
Coronation Street (ITV, 7.30 and 8.30pm) Simpering Sarah Platt sees a psychiatrist and reveals that Kylie saved her life by ending Callum’s.
Brief Encounters (ITV, 9pm) New drama set in the early 1980s about the pioneering Ann Summers saleswomen who flogged sexy lingerie and marital aids at money spinning house parties. Stars Angela Griffin and Downton Abbey star Dame Penelope Wilton. I’ve seen it and enjoyed it. But what do you think?
Forces Of Nature With Brian Cox (BBC1, 9pm) Nepal, Florida, Spain, South Korea, the Arctic… just a few of the exotic destinations on the Prof’s world tour. Quite why we have to go to the Himalayas to note that bees’ honeycombs are hexagonal or to South Korea to establish that human beings are symmetrical remains a mystery. But, in case you were wondering, this is how they’re spending your BBC licence fee.
