EastEnders (BBC1, 7.30pm) Libby has returned to Albert Square and is not best pleased about her mum having Phil Mitchell’s baby. She decides to prepare a healthy, wholesome meal but Denise and Patrick are not impressed by her culinary skills. Kathy goes to audition for the Christmas show with hilarious results. Jay goes to desperate lengths to pay back the money he owes.

Close To The Enemy (BBC2, 9pm) A smart and stylish Stephen Poliakoff drama with a  complex story.  After the Second World War, a British intelligence officer (Jim Sturgess) tries to persuade a captured German scientist to work with the RAF. An unlikely friendship develops, which complicates an already messy situation and Callum already has his wayward brother Victor (Freddie Highmore) to deal with.  Also stars Angela Bassett as a seductive American singer and Alfie Allen as a hotel manager who really works for the Secret Service.

Undercover: Life and Death In A Homeless Hostel (ITV, 10.40pm) An investigation into people who are down on their luck, using secret footage to reveal the terrible conditions, inadequate support and often total neglect. Shocking viewing.
