EastEnders (BBC1, 7.30pm) TV to commit suicide to as Albert Square’s Cockney rabble deal with the latest of their many tragedies. Our thanks to the depressing Walford gang for bringing a ray of darkness to the summer.

Celebrity MasterChef (BBC1, 8pm) As the little known remaining minor stars reach the semi-finals it’s the cooking-for-hundreds-outside-in-a-tent bit. Meanwhile, gurning Gregg Wallace pulls faces and John Torode says “it’s a very lovely thing”. A lot.

Coronation Street (ITV, 8.30pm) More hilarious over-acting as the cobblestones crew string out the melodrama after the death of crazy Kylie. And Simon decides that former prostitute Leanne is dying. It’s worse than that. She’s pregnant.
