Rillington Place (BBC1, 9pm) True crime and period drama collide in this gripping three-parter based on the serial killer John Christie in 1940s and 1950s Notting Hill slum dwellings. Tim Roth is unnerving as the manipulative, quietly spoken Christie who continues to murder while the wrong man is hanged.  His put-upon wife Ethel, played by Samantha Morton, increasingly realises she is married to a monster.

MasterChef: The Professionals (BBC2, 8pm) The final week of heats sees six surprisingly amateur cooks face a skills test before a 90-minute challenge in which they must perfectly execute their own recipe in an effort to impress Monica Galetti, Marcus Wareing and Gregg Wallace.
