Just as your tears had finally dried after weeks of sobbing about Britain leaving the EU, here's Gogglebox, picking the scab forming over the hopes of the Remain voters. Refreshing our memories of that historical moment in British history, our favourite families discuss the unfolding events with the usual hilarity.
There's something very comforting about hearing reactions and opinions of people regarding what we watch on tv. More so when someone comments on trivial things like Corbyn's unruly foliage in his front garden, nevermind the emerging political catastrophe .
So we relived the broken promises, backstabbing, shock resignations and the general confusion of who some of these politicians actually were. It became reassuringly like a good old British farce.
Watching Angela Eagle cry during her interview (go on, you laughed too) , helped remind us what a ludicrous whirlwind couple of weeks it had been. What did most of us do? Laugh, mock, impersonate these feckless MP'S as they fought amongst the scraps. In the words of Gogglebox regular, Scarlett, "Angela Eagle? We'd be better with Eddie the Eagle!" I have to agree.
So Giles was denied another date, (as Mary said they made him ill), and Cameron delivered his Oscar winning speech before shuffling off to pack. Enter Theresa May, our new PM, delivering her first speech. And what did we notice? Her awful jewellery, her cleavage (i hope she didnt see the Queen dressed like that) and "She would make a cracking Spitting Image puppet."
Only a few days previously people were shocked that Boris had withdrawn his candidacy for leader, now they were shocked that he, above all others, had been made Foreign Secretary. Considering "Putting him in that role is like putting Katie Hopkins as motivational speaker at a Weight Watchers convention!" Events in politics look like they'll be interesting for a good while yet.
Gogglebox never fails to deliver. A simple format, good cross section of the public and endearing characters.
