Money For Nothing with Sarah Moore

By Twesty

I have to admit to being a reasonably regular viewer of Money for Nothing and more recently a BBC program, the Repair Shop. I do like to upcycle and repair, where possible, old items and give them a new life.

Today's program of M F N just about floored me. An old, unusable vice and a few old wooden boxes were found by Sara Moore and passed on to Josh and Ollie for their considered view on, "What could be done?"

Now I am all for entrepreneurial talent but to hear the consistently money grabbing pair say they would charge Sarah £650.00 to transform the wooden items into a desk, a stool and maybe a lamp just seemed almost stupid to think anyone would consider paying such a vast amount on what can only be described as rubbish.

Even the usually amicably Sarah could not swallow the £650.00 and offered a lesser sum of £600.00 which they turned down and settled on £625.00. Now the rub here is that the boys decided to use their own oak, (very nice wood!), and use that together with a minimum amount of Sarah's council tip find.

Not only did they not fulfil their original offer of possibly including some sort of light but turned the wood that should have been the light into a wooden mallet for their own use! How cheeky was that? If I were the BBC I would ensure that I never ever commissioned the rip of pair to do future work for them and now make an equally ludicrous charge £250.00 for the wood that they stole to make a mallet. I really must rethink if I will watch this program again.
