What to watch and review tonight: Friday, November 4.
Claire Foy and Matt Smith in The Crown
The Crown (Netflix from today) TV’s £100million drama about Her Maj and her dysfunctional royal family. Starring Claire Foy as the Queen and former Doctor Who Matt Smith as her hilarious husband Prince Philip. They’re banking on the global appeal of Buckingham Palace’s eternal soap opera to pull in huge audiences all over the world. But will this expensive gamble pay off?
EastEnders (BBC1, 8pm) Barring any last minute hitches, Whitney and Lee get married. A last minute hitch to a soap wedding? Perish the thought. And guess where the reception is. The Queen Vic! Who’d have thought it?
Coronation Street (7.30pm and 8.30pm) Yasmeen’s party is rip roaring failure as she confronts cheating Sharif and Sonia about their sordid affair. Happy days.
Citizen Khan (BBC1, 8.30pm) Return of the sitcom that the Beeb’s comedy illiterates think is hilarious. Tonight, yawn, Khan forgets his wedding anniversary. Now there’s a new idea that wasn’t done every year without fail on Terry & June.
Still Game (BBC1, 9.30pm) That rarest of things… a BBC comedy that might actually make you laugh. Old geezers Jack and Victor try their hands at dog-sitting.
Josh (BBC1, 11.25pm) We think this is supposed to be funny. See if you can work out why. Warning… it’s not easy.
