Claire Foy and Matt Smith in The Crown

The Crown (Netflix from today) TV’s £100million drama about Her Maj and her dysfunctional royal family. Starring Claire Foy as the Queen and former Doctor Who Matt Smith as her hilarious husband Prince Philip. They’re banking on the global appeal of Buckingham Palace’s eternal soap opera to pull in huge audiences all over the world. But will this expensive gamble pay off?

EastEnders (BBC1, 8pm) Barring any last minute hitches, Whitney and Lee get married. A last minute hitch to a soap wedding? Perish the thought. And guess where the reception is. The Queen Vic! Who’d have thought it?
