England squad

England v Iceland (ITV, 7.15pm) On paper, mighty England should beat tiny Iceland with consummate ease. On grass, who knows? But whatever happens in Nice, please God don’t let it go to penalties. Fingers crossed for the right result as Peter Crouch and his teeth swap inanities with fellow prattling pundits Ian Wright and Lee Dixon. Talking of inanities, Glenn “them pliers” Hoddle’s brave battle with grammar and syntax continues apace. What do you make of England’s performance? How do you rate the TV coverage? Today At Wimbledon (BBC2, 8.30pm) After the disaster of last year’s groovy Wimbledon 2 Day nightly round-up, Clare Balding returns with a more traditional format. Incredibly, someone at the Beeb has decided it’s probably best to mention the tennis now and again. News and views from all the first round matches. Are you looking forward to the coming fortnight?

Big Brother (Channel 5, 9pm) After the merciful departures of that awful little man Marco and that even more awful woman Natalie, TV’s house of horror continues its fractious march through the long, not very hot summer. With disappointing viewing figures hovering just above the million mark, will this be the last civilian series? Is it time to just stick to the far more successful celebrity version?
