Bert Spencer and criminologist David Wilson

Who killed paper boy Carl Bridgewater? Watch Channel 4’s powerful documentary Interview With A Murderer and the chances are you’ll decide it was Bert Spencer.

For nearly 40 years the former ambulance officer has been a prime suspect in one of the most infamous unsolved murders in British criminal history. He has always maintained his innocence and cites a “cast iron alibi”.

Gasping is enough to drive anyone to drink

Gasping

A one off drama/comedy starring the fabulous Frankie Boyle, however this isn't completely absolutely fabulous. Let me explain, and see if you fancy giving it a try. This has little dialogue, in fact Frankie only utters a handful of words. The story of an alcoholic businessman gasping for a drink,, built around a slimline (tonic) storyline without a happy ending this, if like me, you drink too much is a difficult watch.

England squad

By Andy Simon

As you may well have realised by the title, I'm NOT a football fan.

But many of you indeed are and for this, I like many wives and girl friends and perhaps some husbands too will have to put up with not having an equal share of the TV remote control for the next four weeks.

Euro 2016 (ITV, 7.15pm) The football is upon us. The first match of a solid month of soccer. France v Romania. Commentary by crazy Clive Tyldesley and gormless Glen Hoddle. Analysis by prattling pundits Lee Dixon, Emmanuel Petit and some other men I'm too bored to mention. What do you reckon on the TV coverage?

Emma Willis in Big Brother

Amid the developing hell of TV’s two houses of horror the early irritants are beginning to make their mark. And there’s something awfully familiar about them.

This isn’t so much civilian Big Brother as a corrosive cocktail. A scary cross between (extremely minor) Celebrity Big Brother and Ex (not) On The Beach.

“The game has changed,” we were told as Channel 5’s antique reality roadshow embarked on its 17th series. It certainly has.

Big Brother's "stunning" Lateysha

“The game has changed,” we were told as the antique reality roadshow embarked on its 17th series. It certainly has. Welcome to Extremely Minor Celebrity Big Brother.

Officially, this is the one where complete unknowns launch their desperate bids for fame and fortune. And fail.

But as the latest ludicrous losers traipsed into Channel 5’s house of horror some of them were not as obscure as – to coin a phrase – “the others”.

Versailles

Tips on how to write a review

Versailles (BBC2, 9pm) Gratuitous sex, graphic violence, atrocious acting and an abysmal script. This dramatized story of how Sun King Louis XIV created France’s famous palace is very close to being so bad it’s hilarious. But mostly it’s so bad it’s painful to watch.
